My date last Friday spent the whole time talking about his ex and I'm starting to see a pattern

I've been on four dates in the last two months where the person just talked about their past relationship for over half the dinner. Last Friday at that Italian place on Main, the guy told me the whole story of his breakup six months ago, down to what she ordered on their last date. I get it, people are healing, but is it fair to use a new date as free therapy? On one hand, maybe they're just being honest and open. On the other, it feels like they're not really there to meet me. How do you guys handle it when a date won't stop talking about their ex?

Been there lol. I had a date who did that and I just straight up said "Hey, I'm more interested in hearing about you now, not your past." It was a little blunt but it worked. They either change the subject real quick or you find out they're not ready to date. Saves everyone time.

Exactly, it's a good filter. If they get defensive, you just saved yourself months of drama.
