My date started crying in the middle of a crowded bar because of a song

We were at The Rusty Nail in Denver and 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' came on, and he just broke down sobbing about his ex. I quietly paid our tab and called him an Uber. Has anyone else had a date get derailed by a random song?

Had a similar thing happen with "Landslide" once. Just gave them some space and changed the subject later.

Yeah, giving them space is the only move with a song like that. "Landslide" gets me every time too, especially that line about getting older. It just hits a certain nerve. I've seen people's whole mood shift when it comes on. You did the right thing by changing the subject later, lets them come back on their own terms. Some songs just carry a whole memory with them.

Actually it's Stevie Nicks who wrote "Landslide," not Fleetwood Mac as a whole.
