Overheard a guy at the coffee shop planning his date's entire personality
I was grabbing a latte yesterday and the guy next to me was on the phone, loud. He said, 'Okay, for the date, I'll say I'm really into indie films, but only the black and white ones from Poland.' He had a whole list. It just felt so... rehearsed. Made me wonder how often people show up as a character instead of themselves. Anyone else run into someone who seemed like they were following a script?

Wow, that's honestly kind of sad. Do you think he was just nervous, or is that level of scripting a sign of something deeper, like not liking who he actually is? Feels like a fast track to a relationship built on nothing.

Nerves can make people overprepare, but that's different from not liking yourself.

A buddy of mine @dianas50 once dated a guy who rehearsed every conversation, and it just felt hollow after a while.
