Paid $70 for a matchmaking service and it was actually worth it

I got ghosted three times in a row back in March, so I signed up for this local matchmaking thing in Boise out of spite. For $70 they set me up with one in-person coffee date, which felt steep for a gamble. The woman they paired me with was someone I never would have swiped on, and we ended up talking for 3 hours about dumpster diving mishaps. She wasn't my person, but she gave me a blunt read on my dating profile photos that saved me from more dead ends. I swore off paying for dating stuff after a $200 dinner disaster last year, but this one actually paid for itself. Has anyone else tried those cheap matchmaking setups, or is this a one-off fluke?

The $70 trick is that you're basically paying for honest feedback, not the date itself. Most people won't tell you straight that your third photo makes you look like you're holding a fish you didn't catch, but a matchmaker will. That blunt talk alone is worth more than a couple of swanky dinners. If you find one that does a quick profile review as part of the deal, it's a steal. Just don't expect the match to be the main payoff, treat it like a consultation with a side of coffee.
