PSA: The guy who brought his mom on our date was a real wake up call

So I went on this date last month at a diner in Akron. He seemed nice enough online but then his mom walks in with him and sits down. I thought it was a joke at first but nope, she ordered for him and talked the whole time. He just sat there nodding while she told me about his ex girlfriend. I left after fifteen minutes and paid for my own coffee. Now I always ask if they live alone before agreeing to meet up. Has anyone else had a date bring a parent or is this just my weird luck?

That whole "she ordered for him" part really got me. It's wild how some people never learn to stand on their own two feet, and their parents just keep enabling it. I see this kind of thing a lot in my line of work too, folks in their 30s still having mommy or daddy handle basic stuff for them. Makes you wonder if they just gave up on growing up somewhere along the way.

Maybe some people just have different strengths and their parents are happy to help out where they can.
