Small win after a truly awful date last month

Met a guy off an app for coffee in the city, and he spent the whole hour complaining about his ex and his job. I just sat there nodding. But I didn't make an excuse to leave early or text my friend for a fake emergency, I just said 'This isn't working for me' and left. It felt scary but good. Anyone else finally stand up for themselves on a bad date?

Honestly, good for you for just saying it straight up. What made you decide to do it that way instead of the fake emergency text? Tbh I would have been so nervous to just say it out loud like that.

At least you got a free hour of therapy out of it, lmao.

Three people sitting there in dead silence after you admit it is rough though... I mean that's a lot of awkward to get through for anyone, especially when you're already nervous. Not sure that's always better than just sending a quick text.
