Still thinking about that date who talked nonstop about his car's gas mileage

Met this guy at a coffee shop downtown about 2 years ago. He spent the first 20 minutes telling me how he got 42 mpg on his commute to work, then showed me a spreadsheet on his phone tracking every fill-up for the last 3 months. I tried to ask about his hobbies or weekend plans, but he just circled back to fuel efficiency stats. The whole thing felt like a job interview for a mechanic position. Has anyone else sat through a date where the other person just fixated on one weird topic like that?

Two years later and you're still writing about a guy who talked about gas mileage. Sounds like you dodged a bullet sure, but honestly he was probably just nervous and fell back on what he knew. People get weird on dates sometimes, it's not like he insulted your family or threw a drink at you.

Okay so two years of mileage talk still bothering her? I get that it's not great date conversation, but come on, it's gasoline prices not a felony. People act like boring small talk is some kind of character assassination. I've sat through way worse, like a guy who spent twenty minutes explaining his entire fantasy football league history. That was brutal but I'm not still writing about it half a decade later. What's the real issue here?
