The date who took me to a 'surprise' escape room with his entire extended family

I matched with a guy on Hinge and after a week of chatting he said he had a fun surprise planned for our first date. When he picked me up, he drove straight to his parents' house where his mom, dad, two sisters, and a brother-in-law were waiting for a group escape room reservation they'd already paid for. Has anyone else had a date pull a bait-and-switch on the location or guest list like this?

Girl, run. That is not a date, that is a hostage situation with a side of puzzle. You met his entire bloodline before you even knew his middle name. A first date should be a low stakes coffee or a drink, not a mandatory team building exercise with his sister's inside jokes. How do you even flirt when his mom is watching you fumble with a padlock code? I have been in a similar spot where a guy brought me to his best friend's birthday dinner without warning and I spent the whole time nodding along to stories I had zero context for. Next time someone says surprise date, ask for the rough plan or just pick the place yourself. Boundaries are free, use them early and often.
