Debate: Was I wrong to be mad about the broken blender or was my mom out of line?
So my mom got me a blender last Christmas but after I opened it she admitted it was a garage sale find for like 4 bucks. The thing didn't even spin right from day one and I spent a whole 2 hours trying to fix the motor with zip ties and tape. She said I should be grateful for any gift but honestly I felt like it was more of a chore than a present. What do you all think, is a broken gift better than no gift or should people just skip the regift if it's busted?

HOLD UP she told you it was from a garage sale the same day you opened it? That's wild. Like at least wrap it in some kind of lie or just say nothing. A broken blender that cost 4 bucks is basically a science project not a Christmas present.

A friend of mine got a toaster oven for Christmas one year that was... well used. It had crumbs in the bottom and the dial was sticky. Her aunt wrapped it up in brand new paper too so it looked legit until you opened the box. She tried to play it off like it was a "vintage find" from an estate sale but we all knew it was just pulled out of her own garage. My friend just smiled and thanked her but later she told me she threw it straight in the dumpster before New Years.
