Got my secret santa a 'scented candle that smells like bacon'

I had to choose between a generic gift card or this novelty bacon candle for my office secret santa last month, figured the candle would be funny and memorable. It smelled like burnt ham mixed with old grease and by lunchtime everyone in accounting complained about the smell. Anybody else regret picking a gag gift over something safe like a gift card?

Honestly the gift card is just boring, at least your candle gave everyone a real story to laugh about.

Honestly yeah it can be deeper than people give it credit for. A good inside joke becomes this little piece of shared history that nobody else gets, which kinda bonds you all together. Plus it's way more memorable than some boring gift card that's forgotten in a week.
