I always thought my aunt was nuts for wrapping a 5-pound bag of onions

She gave it to me two Christmases ago and I kinda just shoved it in the pantry annoyed. Then last week I read a post on here about how someone's grandma gifted them a bulk bag of garlic and it saved their meal prep for weeks. I actually used those onions in three different dinners and realized she was just being practical and not weird. Has anyone else had a gift that seemed bad at first but actually turned out smart?

And then when you actually use them you feel kinda guilty for judging her so hard. My mom gave me a giant jar of minced garlic once and I rolled my eyes, now I buy that exact size myself every month.

Bought my mother-in-law a cheap set of mixing bowls for Christmas one year and she acted polite but I could tell she was unimpressed. Now I use those exact bowls every single time I bake.

Oh man, those practical gifts are the real MVPs honestly. I'm still salty about judging my grandma's bundle of kitchen towels but I use them every single day now.
