My aunt gave me a singing fish plaque for Christmas three years in a row

I used to just smile and hang it on the wall, but now I regift it right back to her at every family gathering with a note that says 'thinking of you.' Has anyone else dealt with a relative who just won't stop recycling the same awful present?

Honestly, my grandma did the same thing with those ugly wooden penguin salt and pepper shakers. Three years in a row, same gift. I finally figured out she was just clearing out her own junk drawer from some craft fair she went to in 1987. What worked for me was taking a photo of the gift with the original tag still on it and posting it publicly on Facebook, tagging her and saying "look what Aunt Karen gave me again!" She got the hint real quick. No more penguins after that.

Never thought about that, but you might be onto something there.

Haha savage, bet she never even opened that drawer again after that.

Used to think regifting was kind of a rude move honestly. But your situation makes total sense now. Getting the same bad gift three years straight is just lazy on her part. Giving it back with a note is actually a pretty clever way to show her how pointless the whole thing is. Might try something like that with my dad and his yearly bag of stale coffee beans.
