My aunt got me a 'self-stirring mug' for Christmas
It runs on 4 AA batteries and the little plastic stirrer broke off on my first cup of hot cocoa 10 minutes in. Has anyone else gotten a gift that literally stopped working on day one?

You said it was "not like a new laptop or something" but that's kind of missing the point. The issue isn't how much the mug cost, it's that it broke on the first use. That's just bad design, not a funny gag. I'd rather get a cheap pen that actually writes than a fancy mug that can't even survive one cup of cocoa. And it's not about being upset either, it's about companies selling junk that'll break in minutes and calling it a product. If the aunt spent money on batteries and the thing died that fast, that's on the maker, not on her for trying to be nice. A "funny story" only works if the thing at least did its job once before failing.

Wow, okay, that's rough. But honestly, is it really that big of a deal? It was a gag gift from your aunt, not like a new laptop or something. You probably spent more time and energy getting upset about it than it would take to just stir your drink with a spoon. Maybe just toss it in the drawer and chalk it up to a funny story for next Christmas.
