My brother in law roasted my gift wrapping at Christmas in 2022 and now I spend $40 on bags
Two years ago I handed my nephew a gift wrapped in newspaper and duct tape at my sister's house in Boise and my brother in law just stared at it and said "did you run out of money and paper at the same time?" Everyone laughed and I laughed too but it stung. The next day I went to Target and dropped $40 on a pack of gift bags, tissue paper, and those little tags. Now I just stuff everything in a bag with some tissue and people actually say the gifts look nice, which is crazy since the bag is doing all the work. Honestly my wrapping was never the problem, it was the presentation, and a $3 bag fixed what 20 years of crooked tape never could. Does anyone else here have a bad gift moment that made you change how you give stuff, or am I the only one still thinking about a joke from 2022?
Run out of money and paper at the same time" is a brutal line but honestly kinda funny. My thing was the opposite, I wrapped everything perfect one year with real ribbon and bows and my cousin goes "wow you must be broke now" like I wasted cash on it. Now I just do bags too and nobody says a word, funny how that works.
