My sister gave me a 'DIY Sushi Kit' that was just a pair of chopsticks and a tiny tub of wasabi.

Last Christmas, I opened a box from my sister and found two bamboo chopsticks and a thimble-sized container of wasabi. She said it was a 'starter kit' for making sushi at home, but I had no rice, no seaweed, no fish. I just laughed and asked her if she thought I could summon the rest of the ingredients from thin air. Has anyone else gotten a gift that was only like 10 percent of what you actually needed?

Wait, did she seriously think chopsticks and wasabi equals a sushi kit? That's wild... My aunt once gave me a "fondue set" that was literally just a single fork and half a bag of stale bread cubes.

The "single fork and stale bread" thing is hilarious but honestly not that bad. People act like a bad gift is a crime or something. It's just a funny story to tell later. @nancy524 your aunt sounds like she tried at least. The chopsticks and wasabi thing is basically the same. Someone thought about it for two seconds and went "good enough." Is it really worth getting annoyed over? Life's too short to stress over silly gifts. Just laugh it off and move on.

Someone thought about it for two seconds and went 'good enough'" is exactly how my friend's grandma operated. She gave him a "gourmet coffee kit" that was literally a bag of Folgers and a single plastic spoon. Not even a mug, just a spoon. He loves telling that story though, and we still joke about it every Christmas when we see those plastic spoons in the drawer. Honestly those stories are way more memorable than the perfect gifts people forget about a week later.
