My uncle gave me a singing fish plaque three years in a row

First year I laughed it off. Second year I thought he forgot he already gave me one. Third year I just stared at him while he was wrapping it and he said "you never hang the first two up so I figured you needed a third." Do I just give up and start a collection?

Is this guy trying to send you a message or is he just stuck on autopilot? I'd probably just start a collection, but mount them all together on one wall in a big grid and see how he reacts next Christmas. Maybe get yourself a second plaque from someone else so you can give him one back - see if he hangs it up.

So what you're saying is you now have the start of a truly bizarre museum exhibit in your living room. Honestly I'd lean all the way in and get a few more just to see how far he'll take it. Like maybe if you have enough of them they'll form some kind of singing fish Voltron or whatever. Or just hang them in a neat row above your toilet so he can see them every time he visits. That might make him finally get the hint.
