My uncle gave me a single shoe for Christmas one year
Back in 2019 my uncle hands me a wrapped box at the family party and it's one Nike running shoe, size 12 left foot. He told me he found it on the side of the road and thought I could use it for something. I spent like $15 on a right shoe from a thrift store just to complete the pair but they were different colors and worn totally different. Has anyone else gotten a single item that was supposed to be a pair?

Wait, you said he found it on the side of the road and thought you could use it, but the real question is how does someone lose just one shoe out of a pair? That always bugs me.

Oh man, @ellis.hayden you're asking the real questions here. I think the answer is they don't lose it, they just give up on it. Like when a lace breaks and you're already late for work, so you just kick the shoe off and leave it there on the sidewalk. Or maybe they were running from something and one got stuck in mud or a grate. I saw a single boot on the highway once and I figure someone was changing a tire and forgot it. Honestly, my guess is most of those shoes are just people being lazy and not going back for them.
