The year my brother wrapped a half-eaten bag of gummy worms and called it a gift
I mean, I gotta ask the room on this one. Is it worse to get a clearly regifted candle that still has the $5.99 sticker on it, or a bag of candy that someone already snacked on? My brother handed me this crumpled bag at Christmas dinner and was like 'I saved the best ones for you' but half the bag was empty. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'd rather get nothing at all. Has anyone else dealt with a family member pulling something like this?

Ngl, that gummy worm thing is next level lazy. My cousin once gave me a DVD that was so scratched up it looked like he'd been using it as a coaster. I just stared at it and was like "uhh, thanks man, did you watch this first?" He shrugged and said "yeah, it's a good movie though." I still haven't watched it because it skips every five seconds. Honestly, I feel like at that point you gotta put some pride in your gift, even if it's just a cheap thing from the gas station.

Honestly, I hit a point where I just started regifting their regifts right back to them. One year my aunt gave me a half-used candle that smelled like a dentist office, so I wrapped it up and gave it to her next Christmas with a straight face. She didn't even notice, which tells you everything. That gummy worm thing is just lazy and disrespectful, like your brother didn't put in even a second of effort. For me, calling it out gently in the moment with a joke worked best, like "Hey, you ate half my present, get me the other half". It makes them think twice next year without starting a big family drama.
