I always thought she genuinely loved that weird candle, but seeing the same bow still taped on three years later made me realize she just cycles everything back out, so now I'm wondering if I should test her with something obvious this year or just stop trying?
Testing her with something obvious could backfire in a fun way though. Like if you wrap up a giant neon garden gnome or a mug that says WORLD'S OKAYEST AUNT in giant letters, you'd basically be calling her out without saying a word. The best part is watching where it ends up. If it shows back up at your place next year, you know for sure, and if she actually keeps it, maybe she liked it. Either way you get a story out of it, which beats another year of pretending you care about a regifted candle.
