TIL my aunt's homemade 'art' was actually a repurposed cat toy

So I was over at my aunt Diane's place last weekend helping her clean out the garage, and she pulls out this weird lumpy sculpture she gave me for Christmas like 5 years ago. It was this heavy canvas thing covered in dried paint and what I thought were abstract shapes. I kept it in my closet because I felt bad throwing it out. She starts laughing and says 'oh yeah, that was Mr. Whiskers' old scratching post I covered in mod podge and glitter.' I kid you not, she found it in the trash after the cat shredded it, slapped some paint on it, and wrapped it up for me. The 'lovingly handmade' tag on it was her handwriting. Honestly I was mad at first but now I can't stop laughing about it. Has anyone else gotten a gift that turned out to be something completely ridiculous like that?

@sammoore I tried soaking a 1992 fruitcake in rum overnight and it actually made it edible, just a heads up if you're brave enough.

Tried the same trick with a fruitcake from 2004 last Christmas and yeah, the rum did wonders. Turned a brick into something you could actually eat without chipping a tooth.
