Chat with an old warehouse supervisor made me rethink how I handle inventory

He told me last shift that his last job fired him for flagging expired stock, and it hit me that doing the right thing can still get you in trouble, so has anyone else had a boss punish you for being honest?

Used to think being honest was always the best policy no matter what. But hearing stories like that really made me rethink things. There's a big difference between being right and being safe.

Wait, is it really that bad out there? I mean, I've worked in places where honesty got you a pat on the back, but I've also seen the opposite. Like this one time at a grocery store I knew about, a guy found a whole case of moldy bread in the back and told the manager. The manager got mad at him for making the store look bad, then made him stay late to throw it away. It's wild how some bosses care more about appearances than doing things right. Honestly, it makes you wonder if it's better to just keep your head down sometimes.
