Hit 500 credit card chargebacks in one year at my call center job
So I work for a big bank's fraud department. Been there 18 months. Last week I hit my 500th chargeback case for the year. That's like 10 a week on average. Some people say that number means I'm doing my job too well. Like I'm encouraging fraud calls or something. Other people say it just shows how bad the system is. Customers lie all the time. But also the bank makes it impossible to dispute legit stuff. Which side do you land on? Is hitting a big number like that a badge of honor or a red flag?

Who's deciding it's a big number anyway? 10 a week doesn't sound crazy for a fraud department. Could be you're just really good at spotting fakes, or maybe your bank is just bad at making rules. Is a "red flag" really a thing for a call center stat, or is that just something people say when they don't want to deal with reality? Maybe management just likes round numbers.

Track your stats monthly to find out if it's really you or the system broken, then ask for a meeting.
