Just realized my boss has been lying about our break policy for 2 years

I was grabbing coffee at the 7-Eleven down the street from my office last Tuesday and ran into a guy who used to work at my company. He told me our boss told him we only get one 15-minute break per shift, and that was a lie. I looked up the state law and it actually says we're supposed to get two 15-minute breaks plus a 30-minute lunch for any shift over 6 hours. My boss has been telling everyone we're only entitled to one short break and nobody ever bothered to check. Has anyone else caught their manager lying about something like this?

The 7-Eleven clerk must have seen some shocked looks that day. Three years ago I found out my old manager was pocketing our overtime pay by changing our time cards after we left. He got caught when someone's pay stub didn't match their own handwritten log. The company settled for a lot of money and he got fired. You should start keeping your own records of your breaks and lunch times just in case this gets ugly. Your boss knows exactly what the law says and chose to ignore it.

Right, because keeping my own log worked great... until I lost it under a pile of laundry.
