Lost $180 on a 'management training' that was just the boss's pet project
Signed up for a leadership workshop my manager pushed hard. Thought it would help me get promoted. Turned out it was a $180 seminar teaching us to 'appreciate the little wins' and do trust falls with our team. My team is all remote, so I got to stare at a screen doing breathing exercises. Total waste of a Saturday. My manager never even attended it, just wanted to check a box. Anyone else get roped into paying for something that was purely for the boss's ego?
Did you end up talking to your manager about it after? I got stuck in something like that last year and what helped was asking for the company to cover it next time, since they were the ones pushing it. Mine actually said yes once I framed it as a work expense, so maybe worth a shot.
