My boss made us clock out for a 4 minute fire drill last Tuesday
We stood in the parking lot of our office in Boise for exactly 4 minutes while the alarm blared, and then he told everyone to clock out for it because "it wasn't work time." I lost $1.40 on my check and I'm still annoyed about it. Has anyone else had a boss nickel and dime them over something this dumb?
It's never really about the $1.40. It's the idea that your time only counts when someone else says it does. I see this all over now, like how some places want you to show up 15 minutes early for a shift but won't pay you till the clock says so. Small stuff like this adds up, and honestly it tells you a lot about how a boss sees the people working for them.
