New guy at work fixed a 3 hour problem in 10 minutes and the boss looked sick about it
So our store manager keeps making everyone clock out for breaks by the register, which is dumb because we lose like 4 minutes each walking back to the break room. Last week a new hire named Devin just started eating his sandwich right there by the counter during his break. Boss told him to move, Devin pointed out that the handbook never says where breaks have to happen. Now all 14 of us get our full 30 minutes and the boss can't do anything about it. Anyone else have a coworker who actually reads the handbook, because I sure never did?
Hold on, did the boss actually go back and check the handbook after that? Because that is the part that would make him look sick. If Devin was right and the manager knew it, then every minute he made you guys burn walking to the break room was on him, not some rule. That is 4 minutes times 14 people, twice a shift maybe, and it adds up over a year. So what I want to know is whether the other managers caught wind of it too, or did this stay quiet in your store. And did Devin get any grief after, like a bad schedule or the cold shoulder, because that is usually how these things go.
