Overheard my boss on the phone about my 'attitude problem'
Was grabbing a coffee from the break room last Tuesday and heard my manager talking to HR. She said I'm 'too direct' in emails and it's causing tension. I just ask clear questions so I don't have to chase down answers three times. Guess being efficient is a crime now. Anyone else get dinged for things that aren't even in your job description?

lol honestly I used to think people were just being dramatic about the whole "personality fit" thing in corporate jobs. I was like just do your work and be good at it, right? But then I had a manager literally tell me I was "creating an uncomfortable atmosphere" because I asked too many follow up questions during meetings. Now I'm like okay yeah this is a real thing where they want you to be competent but only in a way that doesn't make anyone else feel bad about their own pace. That "excessive efficiency" write up for your buddy is insane though, like HR really said "please be worse at your job so everyone feels better.

My buddy got written up for "excessive efficiency" once, basically because he was finishing his work too fast and making everyone else look bad. HR literally said he needed to slow down so the team could keep up.
