That $60 'lifetime' warranty I bought on a power drill was a complete waste
I paid $60 extra for a lifetime warranty on a Craftsman drill set from the hardware store back in March. When the chuck started slipping last week, the store told me the warranty only covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear and tear. Has anyone else fallen for those add-on warranties that sound good but cover nothing?

$60 extra on a drill set that cost maybe $150 total? That stings bad. I fell for the same scam on a pair of expensive headphones a few years back. Paid $25 for the warranty and when the earpad leather peeled off after six months they said it was "cosmetic wear" and not covered. Did you check if your credit card doubles the manufacturer warranty for free?

Man, $60 on a $150 drill set? That's brutal, @drew965. Did they actually try to argue the warranty covered anything specific, or was it just a total no-go from the start? I've always wondered if those extended warranties are worth it for stuff like power tools that tend to break in weird ways.

$60 for a warranty that covers NOTHING is basically me paying to learn the same lesson over and over. I bought a "lifetime" warranty on a toaster once. When it stopped toasting evenly, they said "normal wear" on the heating elements. Guess I'll just eat cold bread forever. At least with your drill, you got to use it for a bit before the betrayal. My warranty ended up being more like a "lifetime of disappointment" deal.
