Vent: I started writing down every dumb thing my boss asks me to do and it backfired hard
So my manager at this warehouse in Fresno has this habit of asking me to do stuff he forgets about 10 minutes later. Last month I got sick of it and started keeping a little notebook in my vest pocket. Every time he'd say something like "hey can you go count the pallets on dock 3" I'd write it down with the time. Figured I'd have proof when he tried to blame me for stuff not getting done. Well he caught me writing in it on Tuesday and asked what I was doing. I panicked and told him the truth. He got real quiet, then laughed and said nobody has ever tracked his requests before. Now he wants me to text him a daily list every morning at 7am so he can "stay organized." I basically gave myself a second job for free. Has anyone else ever tried to cover themselves at work and somehow made more work for themselves instead?
