I argued with my buddy for 6 months that you can charge a phone battery just as fast with any cheap cable
Finally timed it myself with a dollar store cable vs a name brand one. The cheap cable took 2 hours 45 minutes to fully charge my phone. The name brand did it in 1 hour 10 minutes. Has anyone else been dead wrong about something that seems so simple?

Name brand cables usually have thicker wires for faster charging.

Honestly, I used to swear by those gas station charging cables because they were cheap and I could grab one anytime. About a year ago my friend Tim kept telling me my Anker cable was a waste of money, so I finally timed a charge from 15% to full with one of those flimsy dollar store ones. It took 3 hours and 20 minutes to get to 100%, which was brutal. Then I used his old Apple cable and it did the same charge in 1 hour and 45 minutes, which made me realize the thickness of those wires really does matter for how fast the power flows. Tbh, I felt pretty stupid for arguing about it for months when the proof was right there in the charging time. I guess sometimes you just gotta test things yourself to believe it.
