Heads up: My overbaked pie had strangers thinking my house was on fire

I was baking a pie last evening and completely lost track of time. It burned and filled my kitchen with thick smoke that went out the window. Two people passing by saw it and rushed over to warn me about a possible fire. I had to awkwardly explain it was just a baking mistake. So, always watch your oven closely to avoid this kind of scare.
