My sister said my old chocolate chip cookies were too sweet
I was making my usual recipe from a 2005 cookbook, and she tried one and said 'these taste like my childhood, but I couldn't eat two now.' It made me realize how my own taste, and maybe recipes in general, have gotten less sugary over the years. Do you find yourself cutting back on sugar in your old favorite recipes?

Honestly that's so true, my grandma's old recipes are like that too. Tbh I cut the sugar by almost a third in my banana bread now and it still tastes great. It's wild how our taste buds just change as we get older. That comment about your sister's childhood is actually really sweet though.

Did your grandma ever say anything about the original sugar amounts?

Cutting sugar in old recipes is a total game changer (my mom's cookie recipe is basically a sugar bomb now). It's funny how we adapt those family recipes to our own tastes. Your grandma would probably approve of the tweak, honestly.
