Read a post about someone's sourdough starter dying after 8 years and it made me rethink my whole approach to backup plans

I always thought my starter was invincible since I fed it every day for 3 years straight, but that story about losing it to a fridge malfunction got me to finally dry some flakes and stash them in my freezer, has anyone else done the backup starter thing or am I just being paranoid?

My backup plan is hoping my neighbor forgets I borrowed their starter 2 years ago.

Bought my own starter and kept it in the back of the fridge. Told my buddy I found it at a garage sale so he wouldn't feel bad. Never heard another word about it.
