Serious question, does anyone else think sifting flour is a total waste of time?
I skipped sifting for a batch of biscuits last month and they came out lighter than any batch I ever sifted, which goes against everything my grandma taught me. I measured 2 cups of flour straight from the bag and the dough was actually easier to work with, so now I'm wondering if the sifting thing is just habit. Has anyone else ditched the sifter and gotten better results, or did I just get lucky with this one batch?
Wait, your grandma taught you to sift and you just stopped doing it? That's wild to me because my grandma would haunt me from the grave if I ever skipped that step lol. But honestly if your biscuits came out lighter without it, maybe all that sifting advice is just something we pass down without ever questioning it.
