Changed my mind about mobile payment apps after a visit to the farmers market

I went to the Union Square farmers market last Saturday and saw this older vendor using a Square reader on his phone for all his sales. He told me he switched from a cash-only system because he was losing about $40 a week in missed sales when people didn't have cash on them. It made me realize that even small vendors can benefit from digital payments without a big setup. Has anyone else seen a local business change their mind about accepting cards?

Wait the Amish honey guy started taking cards?? That's wild, I honestly thought they had some kind of rule against modern stuff like that. Guess even the old ways have to change eventually.

... actually that $40 a week figure sounds a bit low for a farmers market vendor unless he's selling something really cheap. Most produce sellers I've talked to say they lose closer to $100-$150 a week by being cash only, especially in places like Union Square where tourists and younger people just don't carry cash anymore. I've seen the same thing happen with a taco truck near my office that finally caved and got a Clover setup because they were turning away lunch crowds every single day. Even the Amish honey guy at our local market started taking cards last summer, so it's definitely catching on everywhere.
