I FINALLY got my bank to reverse a fraudulent charge after 47 days of calls
A merchant charged me $230 for something I never ordered and my bank kept saying 'investigation pending' for over a month. Turns out I had to specifically request a provisional credit under Regulation E before they actually did anything. Has anyone else had to fight this long for a chargeback?

Man, that's brutal. Banks really count on people giving up after a few weeks. Good on you for knowing your rights under Reg E, most people don't even know that's a thing. I had a similar fight with my credit union a few years back over a $150 charge and it took like 30 days of calling before they finally gave me the provisional credit. It's wild how they drag their feet until you specifically mention the regulation. Honestly, it feels like some of these banks treat chargebacks like a personal favor instead of a legal requirement. You shouldn't have to be your own lawyer just to get your money back.

I read somewhere that banks are supposed to give you that provisional credit within 10 business days if they can't resolve it quickly. 47 days is wild, sounds like they just hoped you'd give up.
