I just switched my main checking account from a big bank to a local credit union
Honestly, I've been with one of the big national banks for like 10 years. Last month, I got hit with a $12 fee for a simple wire transfer to my contractor. That was the last straw. I had to choose: stick with the convenience of all the big bank's branches and apps, or move to the local credit union my friend kept telling me about. I picked the credit union. The sign-up was a bit of a pain, I had to go into their one branch in person, but the guy there was super helpful. Now, my first direct deposit just landed and I'm not paying any monthly fees. The app is a bit basic, but it works. Has anyone else made a switch like this and regretted it later, or was it all good?

Good call on the switch. Those little fees add up so fast, and the credit union's lack of them is a huge win. Did you set up their bill pay yet, or are you still moving things over?
