That 2 AM Zelle transfer that bounced cost me a weekend rental
Was at a cabin in Big Bear last Saturday, tried to Zelle the owner $350 for the deposit. App said it went through but it didn't hit his account until Monday. Anyone else have Zelle fail at the worst possible moment?

I had the same thing happen back in June when I was trying to pay my plumber $200 after he fixed a burst pipe at 10 PM. The money left my account Sunday night but didn't show up in his until Tuesday. Now I always send a test payment of $1 first to make sure the account info is right before I send the full amount. It saves a lot of headaches and I've never had another payment get stuck since doing that.

That $1 test payment trick sounds smart but I gotta ask - does it actually help with the timing issue or just the wrong account problem? Because you said the money left your account Sunday and didn't hit his until Tuesday. That's a full two day lag. The test payment would've had the same delay right? So you'd still be waiting to know if it worked. Seems like the real fix would be banks speeding up their processing on weekends. Or just not paying plumbers late Sunday night, which I've definitely done too.

Used to think Zelle was bulletproof until it ate a payment for me during a Craigslist sale. Now I just snap a photo of the confirmation screen every time.
