The 47-cent coin roll trick that saved my register reconciliation

Last inventory cycle I kept coming up $0.47 short every single night and couldn't figure out why. Turned out a customer's penny got stuck in the coin counter slot and it was reading as a dime on the next transaction. Has anyone else had weird discrepancies from a jammed machine or do you all count everything by hand still?
