The mobile deposit skeptic who came around
I spent years refusing to use mobile check deposit because I was sure I'd mess up the photo and lose my money. Finally tried it during the 2020 lockdowns when my bank was closed and now I feel dumb for all those trips to the ATM.

Not having to hunt down an ATM is a pretty big win in my book.

I mean, is it really that big of a life change though? I get that it's convenient, but you still have to take a decent photo and wait for it to clear, so it's not like it saves you that much time. Honestly, I still prefer going to the ATM just to make sure it's really in there.

Foster's right, the time savings add up more than people realize. It's not just about avoiding a trip to the ATM, it's about not having to plan your day around banking hours or driving out of your way. The photo thing takes maybe thirty seconds once you get the hang of it, and most clear by the next morning anyway. Going to the ATM means finding a machine, waiting in line, feeding in the check, hoping it doesn't jam. For me, the convenience of doing it from my kitchen table while I'm already on my phone is worth the slight uncertainty of not having the cash in hand right away. Once you do it a few times, the fear of something going wrong fades pretty quick.
