Coffee shop guy in Portland changed my mind about tipping
Was at Heart Coffee on Stark Street last Tuesday. Guy behind me starts ranting about how tipping culture is broken. I usually just nod along but he caught my eye. Told me his sister waits tables and makes $2.13 an hour. Said the system relies on customers feeling guilt, not fairness. I still hate the tipping prompts but I tip 20% now because of that one conversation. Anyone else have a random stranger shift your thinking on something?
