Guy at a Denver gun show in 2019 told me he prints his own mags at home, and I still think about it
I was at the Tanner Gun Show in Denver back in 2019 and some guy in his 60s with a 3D printer setup on his table flat out admitted he makes his own magazines for a rifle platform he would not name. He said he has run 2,000 rounds through printed mags with zero failures and nobody at the shows will talk about it because the second you bring it up, forums lock the thread. Is it really that wild to talk about printing your own parts when people have been doing it for years, or are we all just pretending it does not happen?
Ever been to a gun show where some old dude just casually drops a bomb like that? My buddy ran into a similar guy at a show in Phoenix a couple years back, had a whole table of printed Glock mags sitting right there in the open. He said the springs were the only part he bought, everything else came off the printer in his garage. Dude claimed he'd buried a few in his backyard for a year just to see if they'd hold up, dug em out, loaded em, and they ran fine. My buddy bought two just to try and says they still work, though he won't post about it anywhere because every time he does the thread vanishes. Wild part is nobody at that show even blinked, like it was just normal table stuff.
