Noticed my hometown library got rid of its paper card catalog system around 2015...

Before that I could walk in and flip through drawers to find any book in under a minute. Now I have to wait for a computer terminal to boot up and hope the search works. Did the shift to digital actually make things worse for casual browsing or is it just me?

Read an article the other day about how students actually study better with those big couches cause they can spread out their laptops and notes. Makes sense to me, our library got rid of their old wooden chairs and the place is way more packed now. But why do people act like a new armchair is the end of the world?
