Overheard at a moving job that had me thinking

Last Tuesday I was hauling a piano up three flights of stairs in Portland and the homeowner was on the phone saying something about how 'people don't realize packing tape is a total scam for long term storage.' That got me curious because I've been using the same cheap tape for years. Turns out the adhesive degrades after about 6 months and can ruin boxes. I checked on some of my own storage totes and yep, a few lids had popped open. Anyone else run into this tape issue or have a better way to seal boxes for the long haul?

Found 3 of my bins with lids popped off after using that same cheap tape for a year.

Wait wait, so you're telling me packing tape can just... give up after half a year? That explains why I found half my Christmas decorations scattered across the garage last January and I just thought my cat had a field day.
