Overheard my nephew call vinyl 'obsolete' and I almost choked on my coffee
He was watching me pull out my old turntable last Sunday in Portland, the one I've had since 1998, and he said records are just expensive dust collectors. I didn't argue because honestly he's not wrong about the cost, but I told him it's not about sound quality or convenience. It's about the ritual of picking side A, hearing that pop at the start, and actually sitting still for 20 minutes. Has anyone else tried explaining that feeling to someone who only streams, or do I just sound like a cranky old man?
