Plunked down $150 on a 'rare' houseplant from a sketchy Etsy seller

That variegated monstera was supposed to arrive healthy and rooted. Showed up three weeks late wrapped in wet newspaper with zero roots and a stem rot problem. I tried to salvage it but it was dead within a week. Seller ghosted me after I sent photos. Anyone else gotten burned by online plant sellers hyping up hard to find specimens?

Yeah I get that it sucks to lose money but you basically ignored every red flag with that purchase. Three week shipping and no tracking updates should have told you something was off before it even arrived. Etsy has buyer protection policies that could have helped if you'd filed a claim instead of waiting for a reply.

Oh man, @keithbennett is totally right about this. I learned that lesson the hard way with a vintage jacket I bought on another site that took a month to show up with zero tracking. Just kept getting the runaround from the seller and figured "eh, it's just slow shipping." Then it finally arrived and the zipper was busted and the color was all wrong. Shoulda filed a claim the second that first week passed without an update. Seller went dark right after and I was out eighty bucks because I was too patient. That's the thing, you gotta trust your gut with those red flags early on.
