Saw a TikTok last week that changed how I think about voting

Some random guy broke down how ranked choice voting actually works using his own ballot from the last local election in Portland. Has anyone else looked into whether their state even lets you do this?

changed how I think about voting" - yeah dude, that's EXACTLY what happened to me too. I saw this guy named Hank from Alaska break down ranked choice voting on a podcast and it blew my mind. My state actually has it now for local elections and I voted in my first ranked choice ballot last November. It was weird at first because you have to rank like 5 people but it made me actually look up each candidate instead of just picking the one with the biggest signs. The whole thing feels way more fair honestly, like my vote actually matters more than just picking between the lesser evil. I really wish every state would let people do this.

Watched that same TikTok and it made me actually sit down and look up my state's rules. Turns out we don't have ranked choice here yet but there's a petition going around to add it. Honestly makes so much more sense than the current system where you're just picking between two people you hate.
