That moment I realized everyone misuses the word 'literally' wrong
I was at a diner last Tuesday and heard a girl say her coffee was 'literally a disaster' because it had a few drops on the saucer. I asked her if it was actually a catastrophe or just a little mess, and she got all defensive. It bugs me because words lose their punch when you stretch them for every small annoyance. Am I the only one who notices this slipping into Normal Talk more and more?

My buddy said his meal was literally inedible and then ate the whole thing.

Wait, are you sure he didn't just power through it to prove a point? I used to think when someone said something was inedible, they meant it was literally impossible to eat. But now I get what you're saying. Some folks just have a different definition of "inedible" than me, like it's more about being really bad than actually impossible to swallow. Honestly, this changes my whole view on restaurant complaints now.
