The ER doc in Bakersfield laughed at me when I asked about the stuff I read on a forum
Two months back I ended up in a Bakersfield ER with a busted wrist from a ladder slip, and while I was waiting I asked the doctor about some stuff I'd read online about how they treat pain. He got real quiet and told me most of what gets passed around is flat wrong, then he walked me through how they actually decide what to give you. It came down to a scoring sheet and a bunch of rules I'd never heard of, not some big conspiracy. I still think some of those rules are junk, but I can't argue the guy was hiding anything from me. Anyone else ever have a pro shut down something you read online and it made you rethink the whole thing?
Its the scoring sheets that get me. Nobody ever talks about the fact that those things were built for insurance and lawyers, not for you and your wrist. So the doc isnt lying about following rules, but the rules themselves came from somewhere, and that somewhere had nothing to do with your ladder. Thats the part people miss when they call it a conspiracy.
