Appreciation post: the barber at a shop in San Antonio let me watch him do a bald fade with a straight razor, and his wrist work blew my mind
Stopped in for a cut while visiting my brother down there last weekend, and the guy had 22 years behind the chair. He did the whole fade without once looking at a mirror in front of him. Just feel and sound, he said the clipper tells you when the line is gone. Watched him take a straight razor to a guy's neckline and the blade barely moved, all wrist. I've been cutting for 6 years and I keep my eyes glued to the mirror the whole time. Asked him about it and he said try cutting one head a week with your eyes closed, you'll learn fast. Anyone here ever tried that or is that just asking for a trip to urgent care?
